Question #1:

Liberals. If health care passes will you be made when the supreme court declares it unconstitutional?

Because The united states government cannot force someone to buy something. You can try to bring up auto insurance but thats a state right and no one forces you to buy a car because having a car is a priviledge and not a right. so that argument is invalid. So will you be mad?

Question #5:

In keeping with the Liberals' idea of comparing health insurance to auto insurance?

As an excuse to force me to buy health insurance? Let's say I don't have auto insurance. I drive my car and total it. Or somebody runs into me and totals my car. Now I want to have it fixed, so I go to State Farm, let's say, and demand that they write me a policy and have my car fixed. Aside from being illogical, how long do you suppose State Farm would stay in business if everybody could do that? Any of you Obamacare supporters out there feel free to jump right in here.
Hey, don't blame me if the analogy "completely falls apart"; it's your analogy. For months you Libs have been coming on this site saying that everyone should have to buy health insurance because we all have to buy car insurance. You have been the ones comparing people to cars. I'm just trying to make a point about forcing insurance companies to cover people who only want to buy insurance after they get some expensive disease such as cancer, and how it will drive private insurance companies out of business. I was not comparing people to cars, I was comparing one idiotic premise to another just as idiotic. It never fails, as soon as anyone calls you on one of these positions of yours, and points out the fallacy, you immediately deny ever uttering such a horrible idea.
Why thank you, Dolphin, for not only getting my premise but for also adding a little culture to our evening.

Question #8:

How does my driving record affect my parents insurance rates?

In Illinois How does my driving record (20 F) affect my parents auto insurance if I'm not on their policy? I have my own car in my name and my own insurance policy in a different company than theirs. I do have 2 points on my record from a collision back in Oct. of 08' shortly after I got my license. Even than I had my own car and own insurance. I do live at home but I don't drive any of their cars ever.
the points fall off in October of this year. the reason I'm asking is because I don't think it should affect theirs in anyway and my dad knows more about my driving record than I do. I asked and he said he "had" to look it up when getting quotes because i live at home regardless of me having my own. I didnt think that made sense because I didnt have to report who lived here with me when I got my insurance.
I am NOT listed as a driver on their policy what so ever. Nor am I insured by them.

I was in an auto accident and I have medical insurance. My medical insurance covered my medical expenses; however, I wanted to know if the auto insurance is still liable for those expenses? It seems as if my having medical insurance should benefit me and not the liable party's auto insurance company. If I did not have medical insurance the auto insurance company would still have to pay for those expenses. So shouldn't they still have to pay for those expenses and I get what ever is left that my medical insurance company did not pay? Are there any laws statures that back this up in Georgia? I am trying to settle this claim without getting an attorney and I need all the help I can get. Any advice would be helpful. I am in the process of writing a demand letter. Thanks for all the help.

Question #24:

Car Insurance Claim Check (Farm Bureau Insurance)?

Okay, I hit a coyote lastweek and I informed my Insurance company ( Farm Bureau Insurance). They told me to go get an estimate. I went to a auto body shop, the guy took notes. I waited all week for the Auto Body to get back with me, and so did the Insurance Company. The Insurance Company finally just had an adjuster come out and asses the damages. They wrote a repair bill for 527.00 plus my 500.00 deductable. So in all it was 1,027.00- I knew that this was WAY to low of an ajustment. So I called the Manager of the Insurance company told him my feelings on the matter, and whom ever came out missed many things (wires, two light's, etc) I was going to get another estimate, and he said okay to my surprise!! I did -- and it was 800.000 dollars more damage done (which we all thought)! The insurance Company was trying to low ball me. Been with them 10-years, full coverage, and two homes as well. Havent filled a claim in 6-years. I re-faxed the Manager the new adjustment from the Body Shop (A diffrent one by the way), Called and spoke with Manager as well. Will the Insurance Company make the check out to me or the Body Shop now? In the past it have always been made out to me or wife. (In ten years only two small claims) State is Oklahoma if this helps any. So in short will I get a check, or will they sent the check to the Auto Body since they faxed them a diffrent estemite? I'm using the money to get about 90% of it done at the Body Shop, but there are a few things I can fix myself. Is there any type of Law they have to send the check in my name? My fear is they will just mail the Body Shop the Check with the owners name, and this means I will have to pay more out of my pocket. Thanks. 5- point's as always.
I know the spelling is incorrect in some places- have a baby in one arm..sorry. Thanks

Question #29:

Auto accident - - I was found at fault and claims exceed my policy limits!?

My car was heading south making a left heading eastbound. The vehicle I hit was heading north also making a left heading westbound. At the moment, the flow of traffic facing westbound was brought to a traffic halt, due to a red light at the intersection. While traffic remained stopped, I was inching along forward waiting for a safe opportunity to proceed east onto my direction of travel , the other vehicles on both sides to me facing westbound were completely stopped. While approaching my safe opportunity to merge east, the driver from the first vehicle on the inside (number one) lane who was stopped, was waiving at me granting me the path of right of way indicating that it was safe to proceed ahead.

Prior to merging east with my vehicle, I noticed a large white vehicle also making a left hand turn heading west coming from the opposite direction from south. As I proceeded ahead, I was about 75% into executing my left turn when suddenly the large white SUV dashed across in front of my path making a last minute turn west. Before I realized, we were already both engaged in a auto collision.

At that point, I felt very scared fearing that with my 2 year old child in the car, other vehicles in the opposite flow of traffic might also collide into me. During the accident I was able to immediately drive my vehicle off the road to a safe location where I parked on the northeast corner. I remained parked at that location for a while attending to my daughter who was very scared and crying hysterically. I then called my husband who came to meet me to attend to our daughter while I took the photos. I am found 100% at fault and my policy insurance limits have been reached. What do I do now? I'm scared to get sued by all the 3 parties. My insurance company has informed me that all 3 parties have retained attorneys and claiming bodily - soft tissue - injuries, which will exceed my policy limits. Help!
I am in California. California requires :
•$15,000 for injury/death to one person.
•$30,000 for injury/death to more than one person.
•$5,000 for damage to property

This is what I had on my policy for the past ten years. Since I've never been involved in an accident before, I did not look into raising the limits. Had I known, I would have raised the limits (which I just did now).

I own a property and I am really scared that either the individuals or their insurance companies will try to go after my house.

Can I request my insurance company to review their investigation and re-evaluate their decision? I feel that 100% the fault on me is extreme!

Question #30:

Car Insurance Question?

Hey all.

Recently, a car ran into my legally parked car early in the morning.

When I found my car hit, strangely, the other car was still there with their lights on and keys in the ignition. It appeared whomever was driving fled.

Fortunately, when the police was called, one of the officers found insurance information for the car that hit mine. We took the make, model, year, and licence plate numbers down on the report.

The officers left, however I'm not sure if they are going to attempt to search out the registered owner or not. Guess I could call to see if they are or not.

Anyway, I then had the other car towed away and mine towed to a nearby auto body shop. They gave me a preliminary estimate for repairs.

I then used the car insurance that was found in the other car, called and filed a claim.

The same day the insurance I called had an insurance adjuster/appraiser come look at my car. They considered the damages to notably exceed the first estimate, and considered it 'totaled'.

Now, the other car's insurance is attempting to contact the registered owner. They mentioned that if there is difficulty in reaching the owner, the insurance to blame may deny making a reimbursement/compensation payment for my damages. Should I contact the police to see if they've investigated the person?

I then later called my own insurance and notified them of what happened in its entirety.

Now...if my claim is denied by the at fault person and their insurance, is their any consolation for me? Shall I hire a lawyer and sue in small claims or civil court (for damages/rental car/lawyer fees) since the damages estimated are borderline ~$5,000 +/- 1,000?

Could this be a successful alternative if their insurance refuses to help me out? Or should I bite the bullet and go through my own insurance...risking an increased premium for something that was not my fault?

Thank you for any advice.
Thanks so far with your advice.

Since I am still waiting on an answer from Progressive, here's a further scenario.

Even if Progressive chooses to accept payment for the accident and they deem the car totaled since the damages exceed the 'car's value'...then they would give me a check for the 'car's value'...and not give the amount for damages correct?

In this case I would be netting negative in the situation still wouldnt' I? I'd still have to make up the difference in order to purchase a replacement.

(Because even a estimated fair/good vehicle worth is lower than to buy a used retailed/third party car of the same make, model, year, etc.)

Question #31:

thinking about changing to TD for auto insurance?

My current auto insurance company is charging me around $380.00 per month for insurance TD quoted me for $230.00 per month. Do there rules apply for me Cancelling???? or am i alright for changing? also i paid first and last do they take my last month as a cancellation fee?

TD Canada Trust rules for cancelling

If an insurance company has cancelled/refused your policy for whatever reason (e.g., non-disclosure of tickets, non-payment), we are unable to provide you with an online quote. We do not take into account a policy that you cancelled yourself.

Question #34:

Health Insurance Reform by dolphin314etc -- What do You Think of My Plan?

Are these Fair Rules For Health Insurors?
1. You do not have to write a policy for anybody you don't want to write a policy for. You get to decide who you want to insure. If someone has a pre-existing condition, and you don't want to insure them, so be it, that's your call.

2. If you do insure someone's health, and they lose their health, you are responsible to step up and pay to the policy limits as they require such payments to restore their health or palliate their sufferring. You cannot wiggle out of making the payments or your license to write and sell health insurance will be withdrawn, and you will be closed.

3. If you are insuring a client for a given period, like a year, and they get sick during the time they are covered for, you cannot kick them off of their insurance at the end of the year just because they are sick. That's not a pre-existing condition -- it's a condition that arose after the policy was validly in force. It's part of the risk you bargained to take on.

4. You also can't jack their premiums up sky high just because they got sick while your policy was covering them. You may raise all the premiums for all the people in their insurance group or cohort of insureds. You may raise the sick person's premiums slightly more than the rest of the group. So if everyone in the group gets hit with a 10% rise, you can put a 20% rise on the sick persons. Just like auto insurors can put a small rise on your auto policy if you have an accident. This is called experience rating the premiums but it must be done with moderation in the individual cases, and proportionality in the cohorts or groups. It can't be done in a way that is predatory or gouging or that amounts to kicking them off their insurance. You bargain for the risk freely, but then you pay out honestly, and stick by the client loyally.

5. Compensation for executives at health insurance companies cannot be tied to net profits per year or per quarter. To allow this is to allow a direct conflict of interests between the insured clients and the decision making executives. The executives can gouge the clients to get bigger bonuses for themselves.
So executive bonuses, if they are allowed at all, should be for other aspects of company performance such as innovations successfully brought into existence, or perhaps morale among company employees, or perhaps satisfaction among insured clients, or perhaps vote of confidence by the doctors working with the company as providers -- there are 100 possibilities -- only one is prohibited -- you can't get bonuses tied to profits because to allow that is to allow you to gouge your bonus out of patient care -- high profits can always be achieved by providing lowest possible cost care, and that's not what insured clients bargained for when they signed a policy with you. They wanted the ordinary standard of care that doctors in USA provide --- not the cheapest possible care that you could dream up to get your $50 million bonus check.
For mbrcatz:

OK you want a plan to bring down health care costs as well. Here it is. Get rid of the favorable tax treatment for employer provided health insurance. This is totally bogus. It started in 1941 as a war support measure and it is killing America today because once a service is cost free to the users it is way over-utilized. If your health care is free to you, you go see the doctor every month for every little thing and you get every cure and treatment -- there's no customer level rational filtering of what's sensible and what's not -- cause it's free!

Put 50 or 80 million customers like this into the national system and what you get is -- EVERYBODY has to pay TOP DOLLAR for ALL the healthcare.

The "lid's off" customers drive up the price because the market (or a real big chunk of it) will bear the high price.

New Rule: Employees get paychecks only. If they want health insurance they can buy it, alone or in groups, but it can't be a tax free part of their pay.

Question #36:

Do think Obama still believes a FEDERAL health insurance mandate is no different than car insurance mandates?

This article is from September 20, 2009.

Do you think Obama still believes this??

He seemed to be implying the govt. owns your body: insure it or be fined....pay the fine or go to jail. He also didn't seem overly concerned that car insurance mandates are done at the STATE level (not all states have them) while what he's talking about is a FEDERAL mandate.

What do you think??

In a testy exchange on ABC's "This Week," broadcast Sunday, Obama rejected the assertion that forcing people to obtain coverage would violate his campaign pledge against raising taxes on middle-class Americans.

"For us to say you have to take responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase," Obama said in response to persistent questioning, later adding: "Nobody considers that a tax increase."..........................Those unable to afford health insurance should get government help, Obama said, but others who can afford coverage but choose not to get it should face coverage requirements similar to those for auto insurance.

"What it's saying is ... that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you any more than the fact that right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance," he said. "Nobody considers that a tax increase. People say to themselves, that is a fair way to make sure that, if you hit my car, that I'm not covering all the costs."

Asked again about critics calling the requirement to pay for health insurance a tax increase, Obama said: "My critics say everything is a tax increase."
ndmagic............"You do realize the current proposal dropped the mandatory insurance provision?"

I don't think that's right. You have a link??

i was looking around for auto insurance to see if there was anything cheaper than what im paying now. im a 20 year old male with a 2005 scion tc. i have been driving for about 2 years and currently use state farm. when i first insured my car 2 years ago, i was paying $148/mo. due to a speeding ticket, it has risen to $194/mo. i also have comprehensive and collision with a $500 deductible. $100,000/$300,000 coverage with full glass also. not complaining, i think this is great
i looked at nationwide, allstate, geico, and progressive. these companies are supposed to be so great, but progressive quoted me at $485/mo for the same coverage! the other companies where all in that general area. progressives "state minimum" coverage plan for me was almost $300/mo.
